A “Hare” cut for Hart

My new haircut

It has been such perfect cool crisp fall weather in New York that it’s been making me miss going back to school – the new back-to-school clothes, the back-to-school lunchbox, the back-to-school supplies…  I even bought some file folders yesterday at Staples, but it just wasn’t the same.

But since my look has been pretty much one bad hair day for the past month, I decided to get a back-to-school haircut.  I went in with the intention of getting a long collar-bone length bob and somehow walked out with a true just-below-the-chin length bob.  It was not my usual stylist and I think perhaps he misunderstood long bob with long layers for short blunt bob.  Or perhaps I was just missing Emily so much that subconsciously I willed the stylist to make my hair short and swingy like hers.

Unfortunately, the blunt bob is not a good look on me (think me as an Asian soccer mom or the Joy Luck Club) and so I came home and hacked at it with the kitchen shears for a while.  In the end I think it’s actually a nice change, and I have high hopes for the long bob it will become in a couple of months.  And I have to admit, the swishiness is pretty fun.

Support the rainforest!

If you happen to be in New York tomorrow evening, we recommend that you check out the Rainforest Alliance‘s annual fundraiser.  The Rainforest Alliance works to conserve biodiversity by helping to develop sustainable and ecological land-use practices, business practices and consumer behavior.  This includes sustainable tourism and farming as well as Rainforest Alliance certified products – I, personally, am a huge fan of the Rainforest Alliance certified dark chocolate.

While you’re there, you also have the chance to bid on a pair of our Brooks gloves.  They have not yet arrived in stores, so you could be the first person to own a pair.  (I even sewed and stamped the dust bag myself!)

If you can’t make it to their fundraiser, you can always donate to the Rainforest Alliance here.

Today is so beautiful (80 degrees and sunny) that I couldn’t help but lie out next to the pool (with SPF, of course) on the roof of my building.  I know, it’s a tough life.  But eventually Emily and I had to buckle down and do some work, so we headed to Persicco, which combines my two favorite things for working: ice cream and wifi.

We are currently indulging in the richest ice cream in the world and working on our business plan, but I had to write a quick post about the most hilarious interaction of my week.  The two high school age boys sitting next to us just leaned over and said , ”Before anyone gets crazy, we would like to offer you to come and take sit,” as they gestured to the two empty seats at their table.  Although it was maybe the best pick-up line ever, we politely declined.

And they just left, so we can now laugh about it out loud rather than just gchatting to each other across the table.

Snow day

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

So we woke up with big plans of buying envelopes, sending lookbooks and going to the gym, but then we looked out the window.

Here is a comparison of what the view from my apt looks like on a normal day (left) and today (right):

We have yet to leave the apartment.  Or change out of pajamas.  It’s 9:08 pm.
